How to Make Chocolate Transfer Valentine Cupcakes

By Kim Byers

Does your Valentine love chocolate?! Would your Valentine appreciate you spelling out YOUR love in chocolate?! {grin}

Well I can show you how and it’s so easy. To make chocolate transfer words and hearts for your sweetheart, you’ll need:

  • white paper and a Sharpie
  • melting chocolate in pink and red (available at your local craft store in the baking section)
  • resealable plastic bags
  • wax paper
  • cupcakes (tip: not a baker, grab some from your local grocery)

Easy steps for making chocolate transfer words and hearts:

  • draw your designs on a sheet of white paper (tip: if you’re not confident with your drawing skills, you can find almost any design on the web)
  • lay wax paper over your sketch
  • place 8-10 melting chocolates in a resealable bag
  • microwave in 8 second intervals until melted (usually 3 times)
  • snip the end of your bag (tip: keep hole small for script font)
  • pipe your designs
  • allow to set for at least 15 minutes
  • gently lift them off the wax paper
  • place them on cupcakes (tip: if icing is already set, slightly moisten the back of your transfer with a small amount of water on your fingertip before you place them)

Your hearts should look like this once piped.

And once on your cupcakes, they will be even prettier for so little effort. You could even personalize them with your valentine’s name or initial!

As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate! You can find me at for more crafty ideas!
